Pretty soon we will see some new faces adorning our mail. The United States Postal Service is set to roll out brand new stamps over the next two years that will feature some legendary figures, including a couple of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.
The list of approved names includes Apple founder Steve Jobs, NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain, TV personality Johnny Carson and characters from the ‘Peanuts’ series. There will also be stamps to honor Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix and next year a stamp featuring James Brown will be released in addition to a re-release of Elvis Presley‘s 1993 stamp tribute.
More names were also announced as addition’s to the stamp Music Icons series. One name on the list, John Lennon, would break the mold for U.S. stamps. The set precedent is that only Americans adorn U.S. stamps. An exception seems to be being made for Lennon, who despite being from England, had a profound impact on American music.
Other names on the list include Sam Cooke, Michael Jackson, Roy Orbison and Jim Morrison.
